Micah
6 Mission Activities

In response to Micah’s call to faithfulness
and Jesus’ similar call to discipleship, West Heights is actively involved as
a Micah 6 congregation. We made this covenant as part of a broader community of
Micah 6 congregations which can support each other in living the vision of Micah
6:8. Our goal is to embody this integrated vision in our ministries of justice,
compassion, and spiritual growth - to enrich all our ministries with the Micah 6
philosophy so that all areas of church life witness to the full breadth of our
discipleship.
Our Micah 6 group has several mission teams:
United Methodist
Open Door team:
to provide ongoing financial support for UM Open Door, facilitate food collection, and
coordinate volunteer help.
Haiti work team:
to bring together people who are interested in
participating in a mission trip to
Haiti as well as those providing financial and prayer support for the mission in
Haiti.
Watoto work team:
to coordinate financial and prayer support for the Watoto Children’s
ministry in Uganda, including raising funds for a house and planning a
trip to Uganda to do the construction. More information: click
here
Congregational Care team:
to give help to persons in or affiliated with our
congregation by providing
travel to medical care, helping with yard work, handy-man jobs, etc.
CREW/Habitat for Humanity team:
to provide odd jobs, repair work, painting, and other tasks for
people in our community, as well as our own church facility; and to coordinate those who are interested in helping build a habitat house.
Interfaith Ministries team:
to match people with the varied ministries of IFM, such as Operation
Holiday, Campaign to End Childhood Hunger, Churches United for Peace, and Faith
in Action.
Micah 6 administrative
team: to keep the congregation aware of what
missions are happening in and through West Heights; to provide
opportunities for being a part of a mission team or a specific mission project.
All teams are actively recruiting members.
Anyone interested in joining any of these very important missions should contact
the church office at 722-3805.

Watoto Mission Team
The Team established the
following goals:
 |
To educate ourselves and our community
about the situation in Uganda. |
 | To raise $12,000 to build a home for a
Watoto mother and eight children. This would be the first Watoto home
construction sponsored by West Heights. |
 |
To organize a West Heights mission trip to
Uganda in the summer of 2005 to build the home. |
Hallelujah!
We
did it!! We raised $14,048!!
We went, we built, we brought HOPE to the people of Uganda!
