Bishop's Bike Challenge
Bishop Scott Jones invites you to bicycle 18, 50 or 100 miles for Jesus on September 25 at 8 a.m. to benefit United Methodist Open Door's capital fund drive. The challenge will begin at Calvary UMC, 2525 N. Rock Rd. Both Andrew Stover and Dennis Hardin of West Heights UMC will be participating this year. If you would like to participate, Andrew and Dennis are putting together a West Heights team. Donations should be made payable to United Methodist Open Door Capital Campaign with Bishop's Bike Challenge in the memo line. Donations will be collected at ride check-in. If you want to ride with Andrew and Dennis, please call Andrew at 217-5888 or fill out the form and either hand it to Andrew or mail it in to Kansas West Conference, 9440 E. Boston Suite 160, Wichita, KS 67207
Church Pictorial Directory
You are all invited to participate in our new church pictorial directory this fall. All persons participating in our congregation are encouraged to have your portrait taken so that it can be included in our church directory. For your participation you will receive a complimentary 8 x 10 portrait and a copy of the directory when it arrives. Appointment sign up days will begin Sunday, August 15 through September 5. Photographs will be taken on September 20-23, October 6-9 and October 15-16 during the afternoons and evenings.
Boundary Awareness Training
We are offering a Boundary Awareness Training class on Tuesday, September 28, 6:15 - 8:15 p.m. The fee is $30 and covers the cost of the Social and Rehabilitation Service and Kansas Bureau of Investigation checks. The certification is valid for 5 years. Although BAT is not required by the conference for local church events, we would like to minimize the risk to our youth and children by offering the training. Our hope a and prayer is that our teachers and volunteers will take this opportunity to participate. If you are planning on taking the training, please e-mail Jackie Jewett at jjewett@westheightsumc.org or call 722-3805. Your $30 fee will be due the night of class.
Fall Fling - Breaking Up - Say What?
Something different is happening this fall. Our annual fundraiser has been very successful but has grown very large as well, so we are splitting things up. The evening portion has been scheduled for October 16 with the golf tournament to be held at a later date. On October 16 we will have a fabulous dinner, silent and live auctions, kid's bingo, and entertainment: the family friendly interactive comedy improv troupe Say What? Please put the date on your calendar and also begin thinking about how you or your small group might like to contribute.
