Which Way Are We Moving Work Zone and High Way Take a few minutes to pray silently then the leader starts then anyone that wants to can add, the leader finishes. Open the session by talking as a large group about the following questions: · What did you laugh about this week? · Who is your funniest friend? · What is the funniest show on television? · The funniest movie ever? Say: For tonight's lesson we are going to stay together a large group, but for now, would you please form 6 evenly sized groups. After everyone has organized assign the following Bible verses to act out: Psalm 126:1-6 Job 8:16-21 Proverbs 17:22 Psalm 22:2-8 Genesis 18:9-15 Psalm 52:6-7 Moving In  Work Zone & High Way Say: LOL once meant "Lots of Love." Imagine the embarrassment to someone upon learning that LOL now means "Laugh Out Loud" What if you had been sending messages like: "You looked great today. LOL" Do you know how special you are to me? LOL" "I can't wait until I see you again. LOL" Moving On  Work Zone & High Way  Do you suppose that things have changed like "lol" since Jesus' time? In order for us to understand his message Jesus talked in parables. They were full of things that were very important in his time but now don't have the same meaning. Some things in the bible may seem funny now but then had a clear message. There are times when Christians have smiled in the face of death and laughed at those who hurt them. Then again there are times that Christians don't laugh- such as when others make fun of the way someone looks or acts. Humor is a gift of God but ridicule isn't. · Have you been laughed at because of your faith? · How do you react when other people laugh at you? · When has God helped you keep smiling in a tough situation? · When you need a laugh, who or what lifts your spirits? · How do you react when someone needs cheering up? Moving Up  Work Zone & High Way   On the first day, God had a really bright idea: God made light. And God chuckled. On the second day, God made the sea and thought of water bombs and water fights. And God giggled On the third day, God made mud puddles and ski slopes and thought of weekends and holidays. And God grinned. On the fourth day, God made a shining sun and a shimmering moon and thought of sunbathing and moonlit walks. And God smirked. On the fifth day, God made the aardvark, the orangutan the penguin and the porcupine. And God laughed. On the sixth day, God made human beings stark naked. And God laughed out loud. On the seventh day, God chilled out, and with a satisfied smile, looked forward to telling a few great jokes to God's children. And it was very good. Invite the group to tell a few clean jokes, like what do you call a dyslexic, insomniac, atheist? A: Someone who stays up all night wondering if there is a Dog! What do you call a fortune telling midget that just committed a crime? A: A small medium at large. Closing  Work Zone and High Way  Gather in the closing circle. Sum up the lesson&ldots; "Pass the Peace" by saying "I'm smiling with you" (Start it both ways) Do the UMYF Benediction and turn out in to the world, ending with "and give you PIZZA!"
