Celebrating our Senior Years with Learning, Creativity, and Service

Shepherd’s Center of West Wichita was founded in 2005 to provide active senior adults an opportunity to develop their talents, skills and knowledge and to share their lifelong learning experiences with others. It is a not-for-profit 501(c) 3 corporation and is affiliated with the National Shepherd’s Centers of America.

We are supported by seven Sponsoring Congregations and four Community Partners. Volunteers develop and manage programs themselves. At present two six week Adventures in Learning sessions are offered per year, one in the spring and one in the fall.  Adventures in Learning features topics led by volunteers from the community with expertise in a variety of areas chosen by the participants themselves. A catered lunch is available and afternoon creative opportunities are offered.

In the summer, three or four travel day trips are offered to various destinations in Kansas and Oklahoma. Transportation is by large passenger buses.

Shepherd’s Center of West Wichita does not have any formal membership and welcomes everyone to attend.  Financial support comes from participant fees, in-kind donations, fund raisers, and from our Sponsoring Congregations and Community Partners.
