Below is a brief description of the teams that comprise the Missions Program.  Inside each, there are many ways to put people's gifts to work.

Missions Leadership Team: This is the main governing body that meets monthly.  The responsibilities of this team are:

  • Mission, vision, strategy and tactics
  • Mission education and mission support
  • Review and approval of mission event opportunities
  • Budget management (revenue and expenditure approval)
  • Annual missions planning
  • Data gathering and reporting

Missions Response and Recovery Team: This team is responsible for serving our neighbors with immediate needs, including Early Response (ERT), Long Term Recovery and Handyman (general home maintenance and repair).  The responsibilities of this team are:

  • Research and discovery of mission event opportunities
  • Evaluation of opportunities regarding fit, timing, availability of leadership, etc.
  • Presentation of opportunities to the Missions Leadership Team for approval
  • Assisting Mission Event Leaders with planning and execution of approved Mission Events

Missions WHolistic* Team: This team is responsible for addressing social issues and community development around education, nutrition, health, housing, and homelessness and ministry.  These can be described as serving basic human needs, social needs and human rights and to promote human welfare.  The responsibilities of this team are:

  • Research and discovery of mission event opportunities
  • Evaluation of opportunities regarding fit, timing, availability of leadership, etc.
  • Presentation of opportunities to the Missions Leadership Team for approval
  • Assisting Mission Event Leaders with planning and execution of approved Mission Events

* WH stands for "West Heights"

Mission Event Team: Each mission opportunity approved by the Missions Leadership Team is planned and executed by a small team consisting of a Mission Event Leader and a backup leader (in the event the leader is unable to serve).  This team makes the mission event happen.  They are responsible for the planning and execution of the mission event but can seek guidance or assistance from anyone that can help fulfill the needs of the event.
