Hourly Range: Starting at $18.00
Expected Hours: Part-Time (Approximately 15 hours/week, including evenings and weekends)

Position Summary
The Youth Director provides leadership and oversight for all ministries serving 6th-12th grade youth at West Heights United Methodist Church. This role is responsible for designing and implementing a holistic youth program that promotes spiritual formation, community engagement, and leadership development. The Youth Director builds meaningful relationships with students and families while creating a safe, welcoming environment rooted in Christian faith and inclusive values.

Primary Responsibilities
Program Development and Implementation

Design and lead a comprehensive youth ministry program that includes Bible study, fellowship, mission opportunities, and service projects

Schedule and oversee regular youth group gatherings, retreats, social events, and special activities

Integrate youth into the life of the church through worship participation, church-wide events, and intergenerational opportunities

Relational and Pastoral Support

Build personal relationships with youth and their families to foster trust and community

Provide spiritual guidance and mentorship, helping students grow in their faith and navigate challenges

Identify and respond to the social, emotional, and spiritual needs of youth in the program

Outreach and Inclusion

Develop strategies to engage unchurched or disconnected youth from the community

Encourage youth participation in broader church life and ensure all programming reflects the church's inclusive and welcoming values

Communication and Leadership

Maintain consistent communication with parents, church staff, volunteers, and the congregation

Recruit, train, and support volunteers for youth ministry programming

Attend staff meetings and collaborate with other ministry leaders to align youth programming with church goals
​
Other duties as prescribed.

Required Qualifications
-
Committed Christian with a passion for youth ministry and spiritual development

Enjoys working with middle and high school-aged youth in both formal and informal settings
-
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
-
Willingness to complete Safe Gatherings training and pass a background check
-
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for programming
-
Post-secondary education in Child Development, Education, or other relevant field.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in youth ministry, education, or mentoring roles

Familiarity with United Methodist beliefs and practices

Ability to plan engaging programs that address the holistic needs of adolescents (spiritual, emotional, social)

Creative approach to outreach and relationship-building within diverse communities
